Allemand Maten no Sometsu erzählt die Geschichte eines kleinen Jungen (du kannst ihm einen beliebigen Namen geben), der von einem Krieger namens Zafan im Wald gefunden wird. Zafan nimmt den Jungen mit nach Hause, wo er in Unkenntnis seiner Herkunft aufwächst. Als er sechzehn Jahre alt ist, stirbt Zafan, angegriffen von Monstern. Er schickt seinen Adoptivsohn zum König des Landes, um dem Weg des Kriegers zu folgen - und vielleicht auch, um seine wahre Herkunft zu entdecken...

Es handelt sich um ein traditionelles japanisches Rollenspiel in einer mittelalterlichen Umgebung mit zufällig auftauchenden Gegnern, die man im rundenbasierten Stil bekämpft, wobei man das Schlachtfeld aus der Ich-Perspektive betrachtet. Während der Reise durch das Land trifft man andere Charaktere, die sich der Gruppe anschließen. Im Spiel gibt es einen Tag/Nacht-Zyklus.

Nicht zu verwechseln mit dem post-apokalyptischen RPG Maten Densetsu für SNES.

Anglais Maten no Sometsu tells the story of a young boy (you can name him as you like) who was found in the forest by a warrior named Zafan. Zafan takes the boy into his home, where he grows up, unaware of this story. When he reaches the age of sixteen, Zafan dies, attacked by monsters. He sends his adoptive son to visit the king of the country, to follow the way of the warrior - and perhaps to discover his true origins...

This is a traditional Japanese RPG set in a medieval environment, with randomly appearing enemies whom you fight in turn-based style, viewing the battle field from first-person perspective. During your journey through the country you'll meet other characters who will join your party. There is a night/day cycle in the game.

Not to be confused with the post-apocalyptic RPG Maten Densetsu for SNES.

Portugais Em uma noite sombria, Zafan encontra um demônio na floresta. O monstro carrega nos braços um bebê humano e confia a criança a Zafan pouco antes de morrer misteriosamente. O menino é levado para a vila, onde vive uma vida normal. A aventura começa quando o jovem faz 16 anos e seu pai adotivo morre, não sem antes enviá-lo a uma jornada para desvendar os mistérios de sua origem.
Maten no Soumetsu segue o básico dos RPGs japoneses, incluindo um grupo de aventureiros e combates por turnos, com gráficos de batalha caprichados. Uma particularidade é que o jogo tem um ciclo de dia e noite, coisa rara na época.
