Anglais "Sakura Taisen 3" retains the basic gameplay style of the series, being a hybrid of adventure (with timed responses during conversations with the girls, and the possibility to conquer the heart of one of them), and strategic turn-based battles. The game features fully 3D graphics for the battles and the map of Paris (although the locations in adventure mode are still 2D still images). The interface for the battles has been modified: you can move your mechs physically on the battle field instead of pointing and clicking, and an action points-based system replaces the "two different commands per turn" style of the first two games.

Français Sakura Taisen 3 est un jeu de rôle sur Dreamcast. Cet opus vous emmène dans les rues de Paris, endroit où notre héros Oogami Ichirou va se retrouver afin de diriger l'unité spéciale pour défaire les monstres qui attaquent Paris sans relâche et ainsi ramener le calme dans la cité. L'interface du jeu a évolué depuis l'épisode précédent. Vous pouvez désormais directement déplacer vos méchas au lieu d'utiliser un mode de type point and click.
Italien "Sakura Taisen 3" mantiene lo stile di gioco di base della serie, essendo un ibrido di avventura (con risposte a tempo durante le conversazioni con le ragazze e la possibilità di conquistare il cuore di una di loro) e battaglie strategiche a turni. Il gioco presenta una grafica completamente 3D per le battaglie e la mappa di Parigi (sebbene i luoghi in modalità avventura siano ancora immagini fisse in 2D). L'interfaccia per le battaglie è stata modificata: puoi muovere fisicamente i tuoi mech sul campo di battaglia invece di puntare e cliccare, e un sistema basato su punti azione sostituisce lo stile "due diversi comandi per turno" dei primi due giochi.

Assim como no Japão, esta unidade especial tem uma base complexa disfarçada de teatro, uma vez que as garotas de Paris Kagekidan podem atuar no palco, bem como pilotar enormes mecanismos a vapor. Um mal desconhecido está ameaçando a cidade, então é hora de Oogami Ichirou assumir o comando e salvar Paris da ameaça demoníaca.
