Das Spiel ist in der fernen Zukunft angesiedelt, und deine Aufgabe ist nichts Geringeres als die eines Kolonieverwalters für eine neue Siedlung auf einem weit entfernten Planeten. Dein Ziel ist es, den Kolonisten die höchste Lebensqualität zu bieten. Dazu musst du dafür sorgen, dass genügend Lebensgrundlagen, Energie, Wohnungen, Arbeitsplätze, Polizei und Unterhaltung vorhanden sind, um die Bürger deiner Kolonie zufrieden zu stellen. Dein Ziel wird durch zufällige Ereignisse wie Sonnenfinsternisse behindert, die deine Solarpaneele unbrauchbar machen können. Außerdem gibt es eine andere feindselige außerirdische Rasse. Du musst also nicht nur ein guter Bürgermeister sein, sondern auch ein guter General. Ressourcen müssen nicht nur in die zivile Forschung, sondern auch in die Waffenforschung, den Geheimdienst und den Bau von Panzern und Raumschiffen gesteckt werden, wenn du lange genug überleben willst, um deine Kolonie zu einer Metropole erblühen zu sehen. In der Regel wirst du eine starke Kolonie aufgebaut haben, bevor die Außerirdischen kommen, aber der endgültige Schub in Richtung einer Lebensqualität von 80% oder mehr kann nur erreicht werden, wenn es keine Bedrohung von außen gibt.

Anglais Utopia takes the Sim City gameplay concept and adds a military element to it. The game is set in the distant future, where your job is nothing less than Colony Administrator for a new settlement on some far-flung planet. Your aim is to provide the highest Quality of Life rating for the colonists.

You do so by ensuring that there is enough life support, power, housing, employment, police and entertainment to keep the citizens of your colony happy. Hindering your goal are random events such as solar eclipses (which can render your solar panels inactive) and also a different, hostile alien race that inhabits the planets in the many scenarios at offer.

Not only do you have to be a good mayor but you also have to be a good general. Resources must not only be attributed to civilian research but into weapons research, intelligence and the building of tanks and spaceships, if you wish to survive long enough to see your colony flourish into a metropolis. As a rule, you will have built a strong colony before the aliens come, but the final push towards a QOL of 80% or higher can only be achieved once there is no outside threat.

Français Utopia est un jeu de stratégie / gestion / wargame de "transition" entre les softs se jouant au tour par tour comme Civilization et ceux se déroulant en temps réel comme Dune 2 ou Warcraft.
Utopia, c'est tout d'abord un Sim City en 3D isométrique qui se déroule dans l'espace. Le joueur, en dirigeant un pointeur et en cliquant sur des icônes, doit construire des bâtiments et les placer sur la surface d'une planète afin de développer une colonie et de rendre heureux les colons qui y vivent. Il faudra ainsi fournir à sa communauté des centrales énergétiques, des usines pour fabriquer de l'oxygène, des hôpitaux, des postes de police, des habitations ou encore de quoi distraire les colons.

Atrapalhando seu objetivo estão eventos aleatórios, como eclipses solares (que podem tornar seus painéis solares inativos) e também uma raça alienígena diferente e hostil que habita os planetas nos vários cenários oferecidos.nnVocê não só precisa ser um bom prefeito, mas também um bom general. Os recursos não devem ser atribuídos apenas à investigação civil, mas também à investigação de armas, à inteligência e à construção de tanques e naves espaciais, se quiseres sobreviver o tempo suficiente para ver a tua colónia florescer e transformar-se numa metrópole.
