Espagnol El estilo del juego es el mismo que en la primera y tercera parte, por lo que se trata de un juego de plataformas y acción de scroll horizontal en el que tenemos que avanzar con el personajes que controlamos por los diferentes escenarios mientras derrotamos a los diferentes enemigos que nos salgan al encuentro para al final de cada fase, que suelen contener varios niveles, enfrentarnos a un jefe de fin de fase. Al igual que en las otras dos entregas, también se nos intercalan niveles de simulación, y por primera vez en la trilogía para Super Nintendo hay niveles a bordo del Halcón Milenario.

Italien Il sequel di Super Star Wars è, come dice il nome, basato su Episodio V: L'Impero colpisce ancora, il secondo della trilogia cinematografica originale di Star Wars. Il gioco presenta luoghi ed eventi già noti del film, come il pianeta ghiacciato Hoth, la ricerca di Yoda sul pianeta-giungla Dagobah e la lotta contro Darth Vader. Diverse ambientazioni sono state ampliate, aggiungendo luoghi e nemici boss che non esistevano nel film, mentre alcuni eventi chiave della storia sono stati omessi o modificati.

Come nel gioco precedente, il giocatore può controllare tre personaggi: Luke Skywalker, Han Solo e Chewbacca. A differenza del primo, a ogni personaggio è stata assegnata una mossa speciale distinta. Chewie roteando crea un percorso di distruzione attraverso i nemici, Han dispone di granate e di una potente scivolata, mentre Luke può passare alla sua spada laser e bloccare il fuoco in arrivo. Il gameplay è molto simile a quello del primo gioco e si concentra principalmente su elementi platform. Come in precedenza, ci sono livelli di veicoli, durante i quali il giocatore può pilotare uno snowspeeder contro gli incursori imperiali, pilotare il Millennium Falcon attraverso il campo di asteroidi e sfondare le difese di Cloud City con il caccia X-Wing di Luke.

Portugais A sequência de Super Star Wars é, como o nome indica, baseada no Episódio V: O Império Contra-Ataca, o segundo da trilogia de filmes Star Wars original. O jogo apresenta locais e eventos familiares do filme, como o planeta de gelo Hoth, a busca por Yoda no planeta da selva Dagobah e a luta contra Darth Vader. Vários locais são expandidos, adicionando locais e chefes inimigos que não existiam no filme, e certos eventos-chave na história são omitidos ou alterados.
