Anglais K-Xian is dedicated to Xiangqi, the Chinese chess game. Unlike Shogi, where promoted pieces can be reused, Xiangqi has very different rules (the river, the palace, the cannons). K-Xian adapted Kakinoki's powerful AI to these rules, making it a formidable opponent on the microcomputers of the time. Along with K-Changi, it was a pioneer in representing these Asian games in software. Yoshikazu Kakinoki is a key figure in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) for board games. He began in the 1980s creating software for Japanese microcomputers like the PC-98. His fame is primarily due to his Shogi engine (K-Shogi), which quickly became one of the most powerful of its era. His work is recognized for the efficiency of its search algorithm and its exceptional playing strength, which helped to popularize playing against AI in Japan.
