Anglais The game focuses on Gon and Killua as they take the Hunter Exam. Each character has two fighting styles and the player can switch between them using Change Drive. Gon can rapidly hit enemies with his fists or activate Change Drive to pull out a giant fishing rod; Killua has hand to hand attacks and a skateboard; Kurapika uses hand-to-hand fighting and his two bokken swords; and Leorio uses hand-to-hand attacks and his medical knowledge. The player can also switch between two characters using the Tag Shift System. All of the characters in the game have a "Tension Gauge." This meter fills up when a character you're playing takes damage. When it is full you can unleash a powerful special attack. Hisoka is also one of the story mode bosses in the game.

Espagnol El juego se centra en Gon y Killua mientras intentan el Examen de Cazador. Cada personaje tiene dos estilos de lucha y el jugador puede cambiar entre ellos. Français Le jeu met l'accent sur Gon et Killua durant l'examen de Hunter. Chaque personnage dispose de deux styles de combat, entre lesquels le joueur peut basculer grâce au Change Drive.

Gon peut enchaîner rapidement les coups de poing ou utiliser le Change Drive pour manier une canne à pêche géante.

Killua combine les attaques au corps-à-corps et son skateboard.

Kurapika combat à mains nues et avec ses deux bokken (sabres en bois).

Leorio utilise des attaques au corps-à-corps ainsi que ses connaissances médicales.

Le joueur peut également alterner entre deux personnages grâce au Tag Shift System. Tous les personnages possèdent une Jauge de Tension qui se remplit lorsqu'ils subissent des dégâts. Une fois pleine, elle permet de déclencher une attaque spéciale puissante.

Enfin, Hisoka apparaît comme l'un des boss du mode histoire.
