Anglais Clockwork Aquario is an action-platformer in the vein of Super Mario Bros. and Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair. Players take control of Huck Rondo, Elle Moon, or the robot Gush across five stages to stop Dr. Hangyo from taking over the world. Combat revolves around stomping and slapping enemies to grab and throw them in any direction, head-butting incoming foes, and, catching or throwing fellow players. A depletable invincibility gauge, refilled by items, grants brief bursts of invulnerability. Each stage requires defeating a sub-boss to claim a key before tackling the main boss. Like Ghosts 'n Goblins, characters can take two hits per life, the first leaves their clothes tattered, the second costs a life but health items restore them. Losing all lives ends the game, with the option to continue.
